Safety flame arrestor check valves are designed to provide safety in the event of an accident. The check valve allows gas to pass in one direction, and does not let it pass in the other direction - in case of ignition - the fire will not go along the route. A flame extinguishing element is also built into the valve. Please note that on gas lines (red), the threads are left-handed, on oxygen lines (blue), the threads are right-handed.
