AGROPLAZMA LLC is a Russian seed-growing company, which occupies a leading position among domestic producers of hybrid sunflower and sorghum, both in terms of production and sales of finished seed material.
Founded in 2000, the company from the very beginning positioned itself as a research and production enterprise of a full cycle of selection and seed production. In contrast to the traditional separation of science and production, as was customary in state breeding institutions, where after the transfer of the parental forms of hybrids, the quality control of the seeds received was assigned to seed farms.
But there, as usual, there are some technological omissions, which leads to reasonable complaints from the end consumers of seeds and, consequently, to the reputational losses of the breeders themselves.
The AGROPLAZMA company went the other way, it concentrated all the stages in one hand - selection, seed production, sale of finished products - where there is the possibility of complete quality control at all stages. Thanks to this, today our company is the most dynamically developing enterprise in Russia in the selection of new varieties of sunflower and the production of high-quality seed products.
SELECTION
AGROPLAZMA LLC is the originator and patent holder of more than 23 sunflower hybrids and 12 sorghum varieties and hybrids, and is engaged in the production and sale of only its own varieties. Since 2013, a hybrid maize breeding program has been launched.
A continuous breeding process is conducted at our own breeding station; more than 2,000 potentially new hybrids are tested annually. With classical breeding methods, it takes 7-10 years to create a new hybrid; to accelerate the breeding process, AGROPLAZMA uses winter nurseries in Pakistan and also uses greenhouse complexes in Turkey and Russia. The success of breeding programs is impossible without obtaining a new genetic plasma, therefore the company actively cooperates with a number of breeding organizations around the world (BASF, SAATEN UNION, FSBI VNIIMK named after V.S. Pustovoit, Trakya Agricultural Research Institute (Turkey), Agroman Chemicals and Seeds (Pakistan), etc.), thanks to cooperation with BASF, AGROPLAZMA was the first domestic producer to market sunflower hybrids using Clearfield® Plus technology. As a result of work with the Thracian Agricultural Research Institute, hybrids such as Oracle, Orpheus, Anyuta OR and Vulkan OR appeared that have stable resistance to new broomrape races - these hybrids were just a salvation for areas with a high background of defeat by new broomrape races (Rostov Region ., Volgograd region and others.).
PRODUCTION
Parent lines and hybrids are produced in several regions of the Russian Federation, Turkey and Pakistan. Seed refinement is carried out at modern plants in the Krasnodar Territory, the seeds are processed with dressing agents (Apron, Maxim, Kruiser (Syngenta)) to achieve the European quality standard. To check the genetic purity, all batches of seeds sold are additionally tested by the method of soil control in the field conditions of Pakistan, and DNA analysis is also used (innovation since 2015). All parties that do not comply with GOST are rejected.
MARKETING
For the sale of seeds, AGROPLAZMA uses an extensive distribution network in 38 regions of Russia, which allows the end consumer to purchase the original producer's product in his region without unnecessary delivery costs. To determine the hybrids most adapted to the specific soil and climatic conditions, AGROPLAZMA annually lays down more than 200 varietal experiments in all regions of Russia. Every year, the company’s specialists, together with official distributors in most regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in neighboring countries and abroad, hold Seminars and Meetings at which they give technical advice on the cultivation of sunflower and sorghum, share their experiences.
