Chocolate maker Jules Pares is building the first chocolate factory in France, in the Eastern Pyrenees. The CEMUA group is born.
1872: 1st INDUSTRIAL STEPS
The construction of a large plant in Arles-sur-tech for the first industrial production.
1887: NEW NAME
On December 30, the company changes its name using the names of two directors: Joseph the pumpkin head and Emil Katala.
1892: innovation
Cantalou Factory is one of the first to use electricity.
